About Karen Smith

Karen is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy. She brings a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach to counseling and believes that feeling heard and understood is an important part of the healing process. Her style is supportive and caring, while also being direct and genuine when needed. Karen is especially interested in working with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, family changes, grief and life transitions, and LGBTQ+ concerns. She strives to create a safe and welcoming space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves and talking openly about what they are going through. Karen’s approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and a family systems perspective. She believes that our relationships and life experiences can have a powerful impact on how we see ourselves and connect with the people around us. Rather than focusing only on problems, Karen works with clients to better understand the emotions and relationship patterns underneath their struggles. Most importantly, Karen believes in meeting people where they are. Her goal is to help clients feel supported as they gain insight, strengthen their relationships, build confidence, and create meaningful changes in their lives.
